Terrorist Involved in Targeted Killing of Maulana Idrees Killed in Joint Operation in KP

ISLAMABAD: Police and law-enforcement agencies have killed a terrorist allegedly involved in the targeted killing of prominent religious scholar Maulana Idrees during a joint operation in Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to police officials, the joint operation was conducted against militants involved in the killing of Maulana Idrees. The slain terrorist was reportedly affiliated with a banned organisation.

Police said a police officer was also injured when the terrorist opened fire during the operation.

Maulana Idrees was killed in a targeted attack in Charsadda on May 5, 2026. According to police, armed attackers riding motorcycles intercepted his vehicle and opened indiscriminate fire, killing the religious scholar.

Police said the attack had allegedly been planned by a banned organisation with the aim of promoting sectarian violence.

The police said the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would submit a report regarding the latest development to the Ministry of Interior.
