Trauma Center and Emergency Department in Quetta Provide Vital Care to 37,571 Patients in 2024

Quetta:The Trauma Center and Emergency Department in Quetta have showcased exceptional performance in 2024, offering medical assistance to a total of 37,571 injured patients. Of these, 3,571 patients were admitted for further treatment, and 4,466 successful surgeries were carried out.

According to the performance report released by the center, during the past year, a total of 75,576 laboratory tests, 1,789 ultrasounds, 24,514 CT scans, 34,557 X-rays, and 2,994 blood transfusions were provided free of charge. Tragically, 175 patients lost their lives, highlighting the tireless efforts of the medical staff.

The majority of the injured patients came from Quetta Division (32,653), with additional patients being transferred from neighboring districts, including Kalat, Zhob, Naseerabad, Makran, and Rakhshan.

In 2024, injuries were reported from various incidents, including 19,814 traffic accidents, 13,965 falls, 2,126 assault cases, 1,093 gunshot injuries, 257 bomb explosions, 104 electrical shocks, and 214 knife attacks.

The report also indicates a significant rise in the number of injured patients over the past seven years. In 2017, the Trauma Center treated 12,139 patients, but in 2024, the number surged to 37,571, reflecting an alarming increase in injuries.
