Public Trust in Government Hospitals Being Restored, Balochistan CM Says

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that public confidence in government healthcare institutions is being restored as health-sector reforms and measures to improve medical facilities continue across the province.
The positive impact of the ongoing reforms is becoming increasingly visible, with ordinary citizens as well as members of the provincial assembly seeking treatment at government hospitals.
Provincial Assembly member and former provincial health minister Mir Rahmat Saleh Baloch successfully underwent angioplasty at the Cardiology Department of Civil Sandeman Provincial Hospital Quetta. After the procedure, he expressed satisfaction with the medical facilities available at the hospital.
He said the availability of quality healthcare facilities was helping the people of Balochistan avoid the inconvenience and additional expenses of travelling to other cities for treatment.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, accompanied by National Party chief Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, visited Civil Sandeman Provincial Hospital and inquired about Mir Rahmat Saleh Baloch’s health. The chief minister also received a briefing from doctors regarding his condition.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Bugti said providing quality healthcare to the people of Balochistan was among the government’s key priorities.
In a post on X, the chief minister said the primary objective of ongoing health reforms was to enable residents of the province to receive treatment locally instead of having to travel to other cities.
He said practical measures were being taken to introduce modern medical facilities and improve the standard of treatment at government hospitals.
The chief minister said the government wanted major hospitals in the province to have specialised centres and facilities capable of treating complex diseases locally.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the government was working to restore public confidence in government hospitals through reforms in the health sector. He added that the objective was to ensure that every citizen of Balochistan could receive timely and quality treatment within the province without having to travel to Quetta or outside the province.
He said improvement in healthcare was a continuous process and the government would continue utilising available resources to provide better medical facilities to the public.
The chief minister said efforts would continue to enhance medical equipment, diagnostic facilities, emergency services and the capacity of government hospitals to treat various diseases.
He added that Mir Rahmat Saleh Baloch’s successful angioplasty at Civil Sandeman Provincial Hospital and his satisfaction with the treatment reflected the improvements being made in healthcare facilities at government hospitals.
