Balochistan Sports Department Faces Probe Over Alleged Rs2.15 Billion Financial Irregularities

QUETTA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Balochistan has launched an inquiry into alleged misuse, embezzlement and financial irregularities involving approximately Rs2.15 billion allocated to the Balochistan Sports and Youth Affairs Department during the 2024–2026 financial years.
The inquiry follows complaints alleging corruption and misuse of funds allocated for the organisation of various sporting events.
According to an official letter issued on September 28, 2026, by the Assistant Director (Investigation) of the Directorate of Inquiries and Anti-Corruption Establishment Balochistan, a preliminary inquiry is underway against officers and officials of the Sports Department over alleged corruption and embezzlement in funds sanctioned for sporting events.
For further investigation, the Anti-Corruption Establishment has sought verified records covering nine categories from the Director General of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department.
The requested documents include a list of all approved events from 2024 to 2026, administrative and financial approval documents, budget allocation and release orders, notifications regarding organising committees, and minutes of meetings.
The department has also been asked to provide paid vouchers containing bills, reconciliation records from the Accountant General’s Office, complete procurement details and tender documents.
Copies of the letter have also been sent to the Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Balochistan and the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Establishment Balochistan.
The inquiry is intended to determine whether the funds allocated for sporting activities were used in accordance with applicable financial rules and procedures.
