Rickshaw Driver Uploads Woman’s Number on Matrimonial App After Online Ride Dispute

LAHORE: A rickshaw driver allegedly uploaded a woman’s mobile phone number to a matrimonial app after a heated argument with her during an online ride, police said.

According to details, the woman and the driver, identified as Latif, had an argument during an online rickshaw ride. Following the dispute, the driver allegedly uploaded the woman’s personal phone number on a matrimonial app as an act of retaliation.

Soon after the number was uploaded, the woman reportedly began receiving repeated calls from unknown individuals.

The woman raised a complaint during the open court held by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations. During the police investigation, the driver was allegedly found involved in uploading the woman’s number.

Following the investigation, Nishter Colony police registered a case against Latif and arrested him.

According to the DIG Operations spokesperson, harassment of women and misuse of personal information will not be tolerated. Authorities said immediate action and merit-based investigations were being ensured on citizens’ complaints.

Officials further stressed that protecting women’s dignity, safety and privacy is a responsibility shared by all citizens.
