Karachi: FIA Arrests Suspect in Illegal Currency Trading, Hundi-Hawala Operations

KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Corporate Crime Circle Karachi has arrested another suspect during a crackdown on illegal currency trading and Hundi-Hawala activities in the Light House area.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the action was taken in connection with FIR No. 17/2026 and followed the identification of previously arrested suspect Muhammad Asif Sheikh.
The FIA team conducted a raid at Exclusive Fragrance, Shops No. 1 to 5, Metro Palace, Light House, Karachi, and arrested Muhammad Sohail Sheikh son of Muhammad Akhtar Sheikh.
During the operation, the FIA recovered a mobile phone from the suspect containing a large amount of important digital evidence and objectionable material related to the buying and selling of foreign currency and illegal Hundi-Hawala transactions.
The arrested suspect, along with the recovered mobile phone, was shifted to the FIA Corporate Crime Circle Karachi police station for further legal proceedings.
The FIA spokesperson said that the digital evidence obtained from the mobile phone was being subjected to further technical and forensic analysis.
The agency has also expanded its investigation and begun tracing other possible individuals and facilitators allegedly involved in illegal currency trading and Hundi-Hawala activities.
