Important Meeting Between BTEVTA and German Embassy for the Promotion of Technical and Vocational Education in Balochistan

Quetta (Daily Qudrat) – Managing Director of Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (BTEVTA) Abdul Kabir Khan Zarkoon met with Germany’s Ambassador to Pakistan Ina Lepel, Head of German Development Cooperation and Consul Dr. Mirjam, and Germany’s Honorary Consul General Mir Murad. The primary objective of this meeting was to align the province’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector with international standards, improve the quality of technical education and vocational training, and create employment opportunities for Balochistan’s skilled youth at the international level, especially in Germany.

During the meeting, MD BTEVTA Abdul Kabir Khan Zarkoon expressed deep gratitude for the German government’s long-standing assistance in the field of technical and vocational training and the historic role of development agencies like GIZ. He said that Germany’s continued cooperation in modernizing the curriculum, strengthening institutional infrastructure, and introducing the dual vocational training system has played an important role in empowering thousands of young people across the province with sustainable technical skills.

On this occasion, the German Ambassador held detailed discussions on the promotion of vocational education and training in the province and the inclusion of the latest technologies. She reiterated Germany’s continued cooperation and firm commitment to BTEVTA for the development of technical skills and the empowerment of Balochistan’s youth.

MD BTEVTA Abdul Kabir Khan Zarkoon briefed the German Ambassador and her delegation on Balochistan’s vast economic potential and the important technical sectors where specialized skills are urgently needed. He highlighted BTEVTA’s focus on modern mining and mineral processing technologies in the context of mega projects like Reko Diq and Saindak, marine engineering and blue economy linked to Gwadar Port, solar and wind energy systems, modern agriculture and water conservation techniques, and digital IT skills. In addition, discussions were also held on programs to enhance the capabilities of BTEVTA’s master trainers and instructors and on establishing a regular framework to provide direct employment opportunities for certified skilled youth in the German industrial market.

Director BTEVTA Ghulam Mustafa Raisani and Assistant Director Taimur Zafar also participated in this important meeting and presented useful suggestions for further strengthening vocational education and aligning provincial training programs with international industrial standards.
