Over 24,000 Traffic Accidents Reported on Balochistan Highways in 2025, 415 Killed

Quetta: During the year 2025, a total of 24,482 traffic accidents were reported on seven national highways and the M-8 Motorway across Balochistan, resulting in the deaths of 415 people and injuries to 30,066 passengers.

The Quetta–Karachi National Highway (N-25) has earned the grim reputation of being a “bloody highway” due to frequent accidents. Owing to its single-carriageway structure, accidents occur almost daily on this road. Citizens have urged the government to convert the Quetta–Karachi Highway and other national highways in Balochistan into dual carriageways to reduce the loss of lives.

According to official data, the Quetta–Islamabad National Highway (N-50) recorded the highest number of accidents in 2025. A total of 7,647 accidents occurred on the N-50, claiming 56 lives and leaving 6,944 people injured.

To provide immediate medical assistance to accident victims, Rescue 1122 organized 2,986 OPDs during the year 2025. Experts have warned that unless highways are urgently converted into dual carriageways, the number of accidents may continue to rise.

Citizens have also demanded improved road infrastructure and strict enforcement of traffic laws to help prevent further loss of human lives.
