Ziarat, Mangi Dam Terror Attack Probe: Inquiry Commission Expresses Serious Concern Over Spread of Fear and Panic Through Fake News on Social Media

Quetta (Daily Qudrat) — September 22: The Inquiry Commission constituted to investigate the terrorist attack at Mangi Dam Pumping Station in District Ziarat, headed by Justice Muhammad Aamir Nawaz Rana, continued its proceedings in open court today, September 22, 2026, and heard the case. During the hearing, statements of witnesses were recorded.
Furthermore, the Inquiry Commission expressed serious concern that false, fabricated, and sensational news regarding terrorist attacks and unpleasant law and order incidents is being spread unchecked on various social media pages across the province and the country, causing fear, panic, and despair among the public. This makes it evident that the relevant responsible institutions are not taking the required measures for proper monitoring, prevention, and censorship of such campaigns, which has raised questions about the performance and procedures of the relevant responsible institutions. Therefore, in this regard, the Inquiry Commission directed the Director of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Quetta Circle Office, to appear in person on the next date and bring along a written report based on the necessary measures taken so far in this connection.
Moreover, in response to the Inquiry Commission’s query regarding the payment of the compensation package for the martyrs, lawyers representing the families of the martyrs informed the commission that at the previous date of proceedings, the Additional Advocate General had been directed to arrange a meeting between the representatives of the martyrs’ families and the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Balochistan, but no progress could be made in this regard.
On this occasion, the Additional Inspector General (Legal), CPO Quetta, told the commission that due to certain defects/shortcomings in the process of obtaining Succession Certificates in favor of the legal heirs of the martyrs, the payment process could not be completed; he suggested that the legal heirs of the martyrs provide these certificates to the Police Department for further action in the matter. On this, the Inquiry Commission directed the AIGP (Legal), CPO Quetta, to arrange a special court (darbar) regarding the obstacles and difficulties faced by the grieving families of the martyrs. The Commission also directed its Registrar/Secretary to coordinate in this regard among the representatives of the legal heirs of the martyrs, the AIGP (Legal), CPO Quetta, and the Additional Chief Secretary (Interior) Balochistan, so that positive progress could be made on the matter of payment of the compensation package.
In compliance with an order dated September 19, 2026, the Officer-in-Charge of the Directorate General of Religious Education, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Regional Office Quetta, appeared to assist the commission and sought time to submit a comprehensive report regarding the registration of madrasas. The Inquiry Commission granted him one week’s time to submit the comprehensive report.
