Raja Nasir Abbas Confirms Meeting with Mohsin Naqvi Ahead of September 27 Long March
ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen chief Allama Raja Nasir Abbas has confirmed that he recently met Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed September 27 long march.
Speaking informally with journalists, Raja Nasir Abbas confirmed the meeting when asked whether he had met the interior minister during the week.
He said detailed discussions were held on the imprisonment of PTI founder Imran Khan, his medicines and facilities, the opposition’s proposed September 27 long march and other important political matters.
Raja Nasir Abbas clarified that the meeting took place at the request of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and that he had not personally approached the government or the interior minister seeking the meeting.
Addressing a press conference separately, the Senate opposition leader said the country’s political and judicial systems had, in his view, collapsed and that the consequences were being borne by the people of Pakistan.
He criticised the style of governance, saying that public resources were allegedly being spent excessively while ordinary citizens continued to face difficulties.
Raja Nasir Abbas referred to Islamic teachings concerning extravagance and wasteful expenditure, saying that the Quran and Sunnah prohibit *israf* (excessive spending) and *tabzeer* (wasteful or improper use of resources).

He said that even when food or other resources were lawful, using or consuming more than necessary could constitute extravagance. He argued that public resources should similarly be used responsibly.
Criticising the current pattern of governance, he referred to the Punjab chief minister’s use of official resources and alleged that millions of rupees could be spent on a single trip.
He said that if such expenditure was contrary to the law, it could also amount to the improper use of public resources. He argued that public officials should avoid unnecessary expenditure and use more economical means of transportation where possible.
The meeting between Raja Nasir Abbas and Mohsin Naqvi comes ahead of the opposition’s announced September 27 political mobilisation in Islamabad.
