Iranian President Says US Sanctions Aim to Destroy Iranian Society From Within

**TEHRAN:** Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that US sanctions against Iran are aimed at creating internal destruction and destabilizing Iranian society.
Addressing a Ministry of Labour event in Tehran, President Pezeshkian said the problems and sanctions imposed by the United States were intended to create social destruction inside Iran.
He also accused some Iranians living abroad of cooperating with Iran’s enemies in an attempt to create unrest inside the country.
“Some Iranians abroad are working with the enemy to provoke people inside the country,” Pezeshkian said.
The Iranian president maintained that the pressure being exerted through US sanctions was part of an effort to weaken Iran from within and create social instability.
The US Treasury Department announced “Operation Economic Outcast” on August 24, with the stated aim of depriving Iran of revenues generated through foreign trade.
Iran’s oil exports have been affected by the reported US naval blockade and tougher sanctions, while access to foreign currency has also been restricted, increasing pressure on the country’s economy.
Pezeshkian said Iran was facing serious economic and social challenges but emphasized the need to confront the pressure and protect the country from efforts aimed at creating internal instability.
