Severe Wheat Crisis Threat Looms in Balochistan, Government Warehouses Completely Empty

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat) – The threat of a wheat crisis has begun to loom in Balochistan. According to the Food Department, there is currently not a single bag of wheat present in the provincial government’s official warehouses. According to the Food Department, the Balochistan government has approved the purchase of 500,000 bags of wheat; however, despite the approval, the required funds have not yet been released by the Finance Department.

Officials said that as soon as the funds become available, the purchase of wheat from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation will be finalized. However, after the purchase of wheat, it will take approximately one month to transport it to local government warehouses. According to officials, due to the unavailability of wheat reserves, timely purchase and supply are essential so that a possible wheat and flour crisis in the province can be avoided.
