Dialogue Possible, But Not Under Threat of Gun: Balochistan Home Minister

QUETTA:Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau has said that the province must choose the path of education and development instead of violence and destruction, stressing that the government has never refused dialogue, but negotiations cannot take place under the threat of a gun.
He expressed these views while speaking to various delegations. The minister said it was time to move beyond the debate over who should or should not be engaged in talks and instead focus on the development, peace, prosperity and better future of Balochistan and Pakistan.
“We must collectively reject terrorism, violence and hatred,” Langau said, adding that the objectives of elements seeking to destroy peace, divide the people and harm innocent lives would not be allowed to succeed.
He said the real strength of the people lay in unity, education, hard work, awareness and love for the country. He urged the youth to make the pen their weapon, pursue education and play their role in changing the destiny of the country and nation through parliamentary and democratic struggle.
Langau said developed countries around the world had achieved progress because their people stood with the state and constitutional institutions. He added that there was no example in the world where state institutions had been weakened in the face of those who took up arms against the state and constitution.
“The doors of dialogue are open to those who accept Pakistan’s Constitution and state system,” the minister said. However, he made it clear that no one could be allowed to impose their demands through guns, terrorism or violence.
He said collective efforts were needed to build a Balochistan and Pakistan for future generations where peace, education, employment, development and prosperity were ensured for all.
