Over 100 PTI Workers Detained in Rawalpindi Division Ahead of September 27 March

RAWALPINDI:More than 100 active Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers have been detained in Rawalpindi Division ahead of the party’s planned march toward Islamabad on September 27.
According to police sources, the PTI workers have been detained at Adiala Jail for 30 days. The detention orders were issued on the recommendation of the District Intelligence Committee under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3-MPO).
Police sources said a total of 106 PTI workers have been detained across Rawalpindi Division. The detainees include 31 from Rawalpindi, 35 from Attock, 23 from Chakwal, 13 from Jhelum and four from Wah Cantt.
The development comes as PTI has announced a march toward Islamabad on September 27.
KP Information Minister Shafi Jan said a day earlier that the party would move peacefully from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa toward Islamabad. He said people from other cities would not necessarily travel to the capital but would instead shut down their respective cities.
Shafi Jan said residents of cities connected to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would join the march toward Islamabad.
“We are coming to bring down this system and will march toward Islamabad with full force,” Shafi Jan said.
