Another Mpox Case Reported in Karachi

KARACHI:Another case of mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, has been reported in Karachi, hospital authorities said.

According to hospital officials, a 45-year-old resident of Surjani Town has tested positive for mpox. The patient was brought to the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital on Wednesday.

Hospital authorities said the patient developed a rash on his body, following which a PCR test for mpox was conducted. The test confirmed the presence of the virus.

The affected patient is currently receiving treatment at the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital, officials said.

The Health Department said 42 confirmed mpox cases have been reported in Sindh so far this year. Of these, 14 cases have been reported in Karachi.
