No Counters, No Long Queues: Dubai Airport Introduces Mobile-Based Entry and Exit System

DUBAI: Dubai Airports has introduced an advanced travel facility called “Click and Travel”, aimed at making passenger entry and exit procedures faster and more convenient.

Under the new system, airport staff will be able to complete passengers’ arrival and departure procedures without traditional counters, using handheld mobile devices within seconds.

According to Gulf media reports, Dubai Airport authorities said that under the advanced “Click and Travel” system, passenger processing and verification of travel documents will be completed in just 12 to 15 seconds.

One of the key technological features of the service is the use of facial recognition for biometric and facial identification. The system will also allow airport personnel to scan electronic passports within seconds using advanced handheld devices.

The technology is securely connected to government and security databases, enabling rapid and secure verification and transfer of passenger information.

The new system is expected to eliminate the need for citizens, residents and tourists arriving at or departing from Dubai Airport to stand in long queues at traditional passport-control counters.

Instead, airport staff will approach passengers directly and verify their travel documents and identity using mobile devices, significantly reducing waiting times.

Dubai Airports officials said the primary objective of the initiative is to streamline passenger movement, manage crowds and provide visitors from around the world with a secure, fast and technologically advanced travel experience.

The “Click and Travel” system is being described as an important step toward Dubai Airports’ vision of becoming one of the world’s most digitally advanced and automated airports.
