Pakistan Embassy in Washington Holds Ceremony to Mark Defence and Martyrs’ Day
WASHINGTON, D.C.: A solemn ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, D.C., to commemorate Defence and Martyrs’ Day, paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s sovereignty and regional security.
Diplomats, civilian and military attachés from various countries, and senior U.S. officials attended the ceremony. Members of the Pakistani community residing in the United States also participated, expressing solidarity and their deep love for Pakistan.
Addressing the gathering, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, said that in 1965, the Pakistani nation demonstrated remarkable courage, national unity and solidarity in the face of the enemy’s nefarious designs.
Pakistan’s Defence Attaché reaffirmed the armed forces’ unwavering commitment to the security, stability and defence of the country.
During the ceremony, the Pakistani community also renewed its pledge to contribute to Pakistan’s development, survival and protection. The sacrifices of the martyrs who laid down their lives in defence of the homeland were paid rich tribute.
