38 Killed, Many Injured in Shooting Attack on Passenger Vehicles in Kurram District
Peshawar, – At least 38 people were killed and several others injured in a deadly attack on passenger vehicles traveling from Parachinar to Peshawar in Kurram district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to police, unidentified armed assailants opened fire on the vehicles in the Ochat area of Lower Kurram while the convoy was en route to Peshawar.
The attackers targeted the vehicles with automatic weapons, and the deadly assault resulted in the deaths of 38 people, including a woman. Numerous others were wounded and rushed to local hospitals, with several in critical condition. The death toll is expected to rise as the condition of some of the injured remains precarious.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an operation to apprehend the perpetrators.
President and Prime Minister Condemn the Attack
President Arif Alvi strongly condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly act against innocent, defenseless travelers. In a statement, the President vowed to bring those responsible to justice.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the attack, which targeted a civilian convoy that included women and children. He directed authorities to provide the best medical care to the injured and ensure that the attackers are brought to justice.
In his statement, the Prime Minister emphasized that such attacks were a threat to the country’s peace and stability and vowed to defeat the enemies of peace. He reiterated that those responsible for this heinous act would be identified and given exemplary punishment, and added that such cowardly actions would not demoralize the brave Pakistani nation.
