CCD Rawalpindi Sub-Inspector Adnan Ghayoor Martyred in Firing by Proclaimed Offender
RAWALPINDI: Crime Investigation and Control Department (CCD) Rawalpindi Sub-Inspector Adnan Ghayoor was martyred after coming under fire from a wanted proclaimed offender during a police raid in Rawalpindi, while the suspect was later killed in retaliatory firing by police.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the incident took place within the jurisdiction of Chaklala Police Station, where Sub-Inspector Adnan Ghayoor, along with a police team, conducted a raid after receiving information about the presence of a dangerous proclaimed offender.
During the operation, the suspect opened indiscriminate fire at the police party after finding himself surrounded. Sub-Inspector Adnan Ghayoor sustained critical injuries in the firing and succumbed to his wounds at the scene.

Punjab Inspector General Rao Abdul Karim took immediate notice of the incident and paid tribute to the sacrifice of the martyred police officer.
The IG directed the Regional Police Officer (RPO) and City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi to utilize all available modern and operational resources to apprehend the proclaimed offender involved in the attack.
He said the martyrs of Punjab Police were the department’s true pride and emphasized that the care, financial assistance and welfare of the bereaved family of the martyred officer would remain a top priority.
Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the fleeing suspect.

According to further details, the dangerous proclaimed offender and alleged robber, Umar Khan alias Sheena, who had allegedly opened fire on and martyred Sub-Inspector Adnan Ghayoor, was later killed during a police encounter.
The encounter took place near Dhok Chaudhrian in Rawalpindi after CCD teams traced the suspected hiding place of the accused and surrounded the area.
An exchange of fire followed, during which Umar Khan alias Sheena sustained fatal bullet wounds and was killed at the scene.
