Slow Pace of Development Projects Makes Life Miserable for Quetta Residents
QUETTA: The slow progress of development projects in Balochistan’s provincial capital has made life increasingly difficult for residents, with excavated roads, open pits and construction debris creating serious problems across the city.
Major roads, streets and markets in several parts of Quetta are covered with dust and dirt, while open potholes and unfinished construction work have severely disrupted traffic flow.
Construction machinery parked at various locations and incomplete projects have added to the congestion. Residents have also complained about piles of construction material and debris near schools and hospitals, creating inconvenience and potential risks for the public.
Citizens said government departments and relevant authorities appeared to be neglecting the situation, with development projects intended to improve public facilities instead becoming a source of hardship.
Residents questioned the state of development in other parts of the province, saying that if the provincial capital was facing such conditions, the situation in remote districts could be even worse.
The public has urged Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and other relevant authorities to take immediate notice of the situation and accelerate the completion of ongoing projects.
They warned that if effective measures were not taken soon, Quetta could begin to resemble a “ruined city” rather than a developed provincial capital.
