PIMS Tragedy: Government Begins Distributing Compensation Cheques to Victims’ Families

ISLAMABAD: The government has begun distributing financial assistance to families who lost their children in the PIMS tragedy, with Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal saying that monetary compensation could never make up for the loss of their loved ones.

Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, accompanied by the CDA Deputy Commissioner, met with the affected families and expressed condolences over the deaths.

The two ministers later visited an affected family at its home in Rawalpindi and conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s condolences and sympathies.

The federal ministers expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved mothers and families on behalf of the prime minister and themselves.

Mustafa Kamal described the incident as an extremely tragic and heartbreaking event that could not be adequately expressed in words. He said they had visited the families to share their grief and stand with the bereaved mothers.

The health minister said the pain of a mother losing her child was beyond description and that there could be no substitute for precious human lives because the children who lost their lives could not return.

He said the government and the entire nation stood with the affected families during this difficult time, praying that Allah Almighty grant the deceased children a high place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and give their families patience and strength to bear the irreparable loss.

Mustafa Kamal presented a cheque of Rs5 million to each of the two affected families for the care and support of their children.

He clarified that the financial assistance was in no way a compensation for their loss, but merely a modest expression of the government’s support and its willingness to share their responsibilities during the difficult period.

The minister said a complete and impartial investigation into the PIMS hospital incident was underway and assured that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for negligence.

The federal ministers once again expressed their deepest sympathies to the affected families and assured them of their continued support.
