Hamid Mir Reacts as Lahore Press Club President Served Notice Under Amended PECA Act

Lahore – The National Cybercrime Investigation Agency has issued the first notice under the **amended PECA Act** to **Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari**, sparking strong reactions from journalists and legal bodies.
Senior journalist **Hamid Mir** criticized the development, recalling that **Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar** had assured Parliament that the PECA amendments posed no threat to journalists. “Now, under the same law, a notice has been served to the President of Lahore Press Club,” Mir remarked, adding that journalists’ and lawyers’ associations will hold a **press conference at the Lahore High Court** today.
The notice, dated **September 19**, was issued on the complaint of a citizen named **Azizullah Khan**, who accused Ansari of running a defamatory campaign against police officials and the complainant.
