Parliament to Hold Joint Session on Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Today

ISLAMABAD:A joint session of Parliament will be held at 11:00 a.m. today to endorse the imposition of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A day earlier, the National Assembly and the Senate endorsed the imposition of an emergency in the province. Opposition lawmakers staged protests in the National Assembly, while opposition members also walked out of the Senate in protest.

During the National Assembly session, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq once again offered Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) an opportunity to engage in dialogue, signalling continued efforts to encourage political negotiations amid tensions over the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Meanwhile, production orders were issued for PTI lawmakers Sanaullah Mastikhel and Dawar Kundi, allowing them to attend parliamentary proceedings.

The joint session is expected to address the parliamentary endorsement of governor’s rule in the province amid ongoing political debate over the federal government’s measures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
