Pakistani Actor Nauman Ijaz Reveals Cancer Diagnosis, Says Surah Al-Rahman Helped in Recovery

KARACHI:Senior Pakistani actor Nauman Ijaz has revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 and said that reciting Surah Al-Rahman played a significant role in helping him recover.

In a recent interview, the veteran actor opened up about his battle with cancer and the difficult period he went through following his diagnosis.

Nauman Ijaz said he was diagnosed with cancer near his ear in 2024. Recalling the day he received the diagnosis, he said he looked towards the sky during prayer and told Allah that he had never intentionally wronged anyone or deprived anyone of their rights.

He said he believed that Allah sends every person into the world for a purpose. He prayed that if his presence was no longer needed, he should be called back immediately because he did not want to see his family suffer.

The actor said he prayed that he would not have to make repeated visits to hospitals or undergo painful procedures such as chemotherapy. He added that he would read extensively every night and go to sleep hoping that he would not wake up the next morning.

Nauman Ijaz said that after people learned about his cancer diagnosis, a close friend advised him to recite Surah Al-Rahman. “From that day until today, I continue to recite Surah Al-Rahman,” he said, adding that he believed the Surah played a major role in saving his life.

He further revealed that he subsequently underwent a successful operation during which the tumour was removed. His first chemotherapy session had been scheduled for July 23, 2024, but doctors called him in on July 22 and informed him that they could not find any cancerous traces and that chemotherapy was therefore not required.
