Quetta Woman Alleges Cousins Assaulted Her Over Marriage Refusal, Seeks Protection and Justice

QUETTA: A resident of Qambrani Road, Asma Amanullah, has alleged that her cousins entered her home, subjected her to severe violence and attempted to forcibly marry and abduct her after she refused a marriage proposal.
Addressing a press conference alongside her sister, Asma alleged that the incident took place on the night of August 13 and was primarily linked to her refusal of the marriage proposal.
She alleged that Khuda Bakhsh assaulted and injured her after she declined the proposal. According to Asma, the suspect also attempted to force her into marriage, but a cleric refused to solemnise the marriage.
She further alleged that she was subsequently tied up and an attempt was made to abduct and sexually assault her. Asma claimed that she was being forcibly taken away in a vehicle when Frontier Corps personnel at a check post allegedly intervened and detained the suspects.
Asma further claimed that belongings worth approximately Rs6.5 million, including her educational certificates, were also taken during the incident. She alleged that Khuda Bakhsh, Siraj, Rafiq and other maternal cousins were involved.
The woman said she had suffered severe injuries as a result of the alleged assault and was currently unable to walk properly. She expressed fear that the suspects might still be looking for her to cause further harm, forcing her to stay at a undisclosed location.
Appearing emotional during the press conference, Asma appealed to Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti for immediate protection and justice.
“My only fault was that I refused the marriage proposal,” she said, alleging that her dignity had been violated and urging the chief minister to provide her with protection and justice.
She called on the Balochistan government to take immediate notice of the incident, take legal action against those responsible and ensure her safety.
