*Quetta (Daily Qudrat)* — The initial session of the 11th National Finance Commission (NFC) is scheduled today, and the Balochistan government has completed its preparations to present its case. The provincial authorities will brief the commission about the financial position of the province.
Provincial Minister for Finance and Minerals, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, stated that today’s meeting is the preliminary session, during which Balochistan will provide an overview of its finances. A working group will be formed in upcoming sessions to further deliberate on the NFC award.
Non-official NFC member from Balochistan, Mahfooz Ali Khan, said the province will raise issues including population growth, poverty, the ongoing fight against terrorism, and other development challenges. He emphasized that a significant portion of Balochistan’s resources is spent on counter-terrorism efforts, which has adversely affected social development and trade in the province.
In response to a query, Mahfooz Ali Khan clarified that after the 18th Amendment, the provincial share in NFC funds cannot be reduced.
