Saylani Welfare Trust, Balochistan Government Sign MoUs to Provide IT, Vocational Training and Healthcare

KARACHI: Saylani Welfare International Trust and the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Balochistan have signed comprehensive memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to provide modern IT, technical and vocational education, language and employment-oriented skills, as well as healthcare facilities to youth, women, persons with disabilities and underprivileged communities in the province.

The agreements were signed during a meeting by Saylani Trustee Arif Lakhani, Saylani Welfare International Trust Chief Operating Officer Muhammad Ghazal and Secretary Social Welfare Department Balochistan Ismatullah Qureshi, who headed the provincial delegation.

Saylani Trustee Abu Faisal, Chief Medical Officer Dr Shahid Rauf, Medical Administrator Wazir Raza, Saylani CSR representative Furqan Aslam, Saylani Quetta Education Board head Sohail Akbar and Dawood Khan were also present.

Under the agreements, Saylani and the Balochistan government will collaborate to provide healthcare services to people across the province. The initiatives also aim to expand access to modern technology education and create opportunities for employment, freelancing, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

A Women’s IT Lab and incubation space equipped with around 30 computers will be established at Muzamil Housing Scheme, Nawakilli, Quetta. Women will receive training in modern digital skills, freelancing, startups and entrepreneurship.

An IT park, digital library and training facility will also be established on two floors of the Arts Council Building on Jinnah Road, Quetta. The facility will host IT boot camps and training programmes focused on modern technologies.

The project also includes a programme to provide specialised IT and technical training to around 60 hearing-impaired and other deserving students from different districts of Balochistan. Selected participants will be trained as master trainers so they can subsequently train more young people in their respective districts.

Special IT training programmes for hearing-impaired students will also be launched, with the Balochistan Social Welfare Department, the Directorate General of Social Welfare and its deaf schools facilitating the establishment of the programmes and access for students.

In Khuzdar, three non-formal education centres will be established. The project also includes hostel facilities, an English language centre and a 30-kilowatt solar power system to support IT-related facilities for students.

A Technical and Vocational Training Centre and IT Lab will also be established at Government Shafiq Ahmed Khan Shaheed School, Tail Godown, Quetta.

The centre will offer training in web and app development, UI/UX, artificial intelligence, generative AI, mobile and computer repair, CCTV installation, solar technology, electrical work, plumbing and other market-oriented skills.

Both organisations expressed their commitment to continuing joint efforts to equip Balochistan’s youth with modern education and marketable skills, connecting them with local and international employment opportunities and helping them become empowered and self-reliant.
