Polio Team Security Attacked in Nushki, Police Officer Martyred

Nushki, Balochistan: A police officer providing security to a polio vaccination team was martyred in a terrorist attack in the Nushki district of Balochistan, according to a statement by Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind. The martyred officer has been identified as Waheed Ahmed, son of Muhammad Hashim, a resident of Jamalabad, Nushki.
Shahid Rind condemned the attack, calling it an unacceptable assault on a vital national duty. “We pay tribute to the officer who embraced martyrdom while fulfilling his responsibility,” he stated.
He further described the incident as a deliberate attempt to sabotage the national campaign to eradicate polio and spread fear and panic. Rind affirmed that operations against the perpetrators will be intensified, and the government will strengthen the protection of both polio teams and their security personnel.
It is worth noting that anti-polio campaigns in Pakistan have repeatedly come under terrorist attacks, making security concerns a persistent challenge in the fight to eradicate the disease.
