Court Reporter Saqib Bashir Rejects Claims Over Imran Khan’s Transfer to Shifa Hospital

ISLAMABAD: Renowned court reporter Saqib Bashir has rejected claims and analyses by various journalists and commentators regarding the transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital, providing details of what he described as the proceedings witnessed inside the open court and the court order.
Saqib Bashir said the head of the Supreme Court bench, Justice Shahid Waheed, personally dictated the order in open court directing that former prime minister Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital.

According to the court reporter, the order contained several conditions. He said Barrister Salman Akram Raja was required to provide an undertaking that the matter would not be used for political purposes and that no rally, protest or public gathering would be held outside Shifa International Hospital.
He further stated that the court order directed that Imran Khan’s medical reports would be kept strictly confidential and would not be shared with the media. The order also prohibited media talks regarding the medical matter, he said.
Criticising the differing accounts of the proceedings, Saqib Bashir said that journalists and court reporters who were present inside the courtroom and personally heard the judge dictate the order were being portrayed as “unaware” after reporting what they witnessed.
He added that those who were asleep at home or had no firsthand knowledge of the hearing had now suddenly presented themselves as “well-informed” about the proceedings.
