Political Leaders Keep Meeting and Holding Talks, Says Mahmood Achakzai

Islamabad: Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai has said that political leaders continue to meet and hold talks with one another, stressing the need for dialogue to address Pakistan’s growing challenges.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament, Achakzai said Pakistan was facing numerous problems and every prisoner should be given their legitimate and legal rights.

He said that even a person convicted of the most serious crime had the right to receive medical treatment and to meet their children and lawyer.

The opposition leader said political leaders routinely meet and negotiate and suggested that one or two days should be specifically allocated for discussions on Pakistan’s major issues.

Achakzai claimed that at least 50 to 60 civilians and security personnel are being killed every day, highlighting the seriousness of the country’s security situation.

Speaking on the occasion, Sibtainullah said terrorists had attacked a security post on August 14, while security forces responded bravely and confronted the attackers.

He said the law and order situation was extremely poor and emphasized that the country’s children should be given education rather than weapons.

Sibtainullah said agricultural land was becoming barren and called for the implementation of the National Action Plan and full enforcement of the country’s counterterrorism policy.

He added that terrorism was also damaging the tourism sector and urged effective measures to restore peace and stability.
