Anmol Pinky Not a Major Drug Supplier, Media Created Excessive Hype: Karachi Additional IG

ISLAMABAD: Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Azad Khan told the Senate Standing Committee on Interior that Anmol Pinky was not a particularly major drug supplier and that the case had received excessive attention because of media coverage.

According to media reports, AIG Azad Khan briefed the committee on the Anmol Pinky case, saying that challans had been submitted against 10 individuals so far. Two suspects were allegedly operating Anmol Pinky’s social media and financial accounts, while the entire network was being operated from Lahore. A suspect named Sameer was also identified as a key associate.

The AIG said a person identified as Aqib was operating the network in Karachi. He added that all 25 riders associated with Anmol Pinky had been identified.

Sabira and Humaira were also described as active members of the alleged drug network and reportedly worked as riders for the network. According to the briefing, African nationals were involved in supplying cocaine.

AIG Azad Khan further told the committee that one of Anmol Pinky’s accounts received Rs30 million during a single year. One transaction alone amounted to Rs29 million, while financial data involving approximately Rs100 million has emerged so far during the investigation.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior Senator Saifullah Abro asked whether Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry had contacted police after previously stating that Anmol Pinky would not be spared.

The additional inspector general replied that Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry had not contacted him regarding the case.
