Quetta’s Dilapidated Roads Make Life Miserable for Residents, Sariab Road Reconstruction Becomes a “White Elephant”

QUETTA: The poor and deteriorating condition of roads across the provincial capital has made daily life increasingly difficult for residents, with potholes, open manholes and damaged roads disrupting traffic flow and contributing to accidents and vehicle damage.

Roads in various parts of Quetta have been severely damaged, creating serious difficulties for commuters. During rainy weather, potholes fill with water and become even more hazardous for motorists and pedestrians.

Residents said no effective measures had been taken to repair the city’s roads for several months. They complained that motorists were forced to spend money on vehicle repairs on a regular basis, while the authorities appeared to remain indifferent to the situation.

Public representatives and civic organizations have urged the Balochistan government and district administration to take emergency measures to repair and rehabilitate Quetta’s roads.

Meanwhile, sources in the Communications and Works (C&W) Department said a comprehensive plan had been prepared for the restoration of damaged roads and work would begin soon.

According to the sources, once funds are released, the first phase of the project will focus on repairing the busiest roads and major thoroughfares of the city.

Citizens have called for the authorities to ensure timely completion of the projects and effective monitoring so that road rehabilitation does not become another prolonged and costly exercise.
