JUI Expresses Concern Over Rising Theft and Robbery in Quetta, Demands Crackdown
QUETTA: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Quetta chapter has expressed serious concern over the increasing incidents of theft, robbery and street crime in the city, calling for indiscriminate action against criminal elements.
JUI Quetta Emir Maulana Abdul Rehman Rafiq, General Secretary Haji Ainullah Shams, Senior Vice Emir Maulana Khurshid Ahmed, Deputy Secretary General Haji Bashir Ahmed Kakar and other party leaders said the law and order situation in Quetta was deteriorating day by day.
They said incidents of theft, robbery and motorcycle snatching had become a daily occurrence in different parts of the city, including streets, neighbourhoods and major roads. Criminals were allegedly carrying out their activities without fear and escaping easily, which was increasing a sense of insecurity among citizens.
The JUI leaders expressed concern that many affected citizens faced difficulties even in getting cases registered when they approached the police after being targeted.
They said failure to register FIRs on citizens’ complaints while criminals continued operating freely could raise questions about the rule of law and the writ of the government.
The leaders called on the police and administration to take practical and result-oriented measures instead of relying on statements and formal actions. They said citizens could not be left at the mercy of thieves, robbers and street criminals.
They stressed that the government and police had a fundamental responsibility to protect the lives and property of citizens, take effective and indiscriminate action against criminals, and ensure immediate registration of cases and access to justice for victims.
The JUI leaders demanded a comprehensive strategy to improve law and order in Quetta, along with an effective crackdown against criminal elements and practical measures to protect citizens.
They said safeguarding the lives and property of the people was the primary responsibility of the state and administration, and that negligence in this regard would not be acceptable.
