US and Iran Nearing a New Peace Deal, Says Khawaja Asif
ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the United States and Iran appear to be moving closer to some form of agreement, with signals emerging over the past two to three days suggesting progress towards a peace deal or broader understanding between the two countries.
Speaking to Bloomberg in Islamabad, Khawaja Asif discussed the ongoing situation between Washington and Tehran and said recent developments indicated that matters were once again moving in the direction of a peace arrangement or agreement.
He said the signals received during the past few days suggested that the two sides were approaching some form of understanding.

According to the defence minister, a potential understanding between the United States and Iran could be significant not only for the two countries but for the wider region as well.
Khawaja Asif expressed hope that ongoing diplomatic efforts would lead to an outcome capable of reducing tensions and contributing to lasting peace in the region.
He said recent developments had strengthened the impression that the United States and Iran were once again moving towards a peace formula or agreement, adding that the two sides appeared to be “close to some arrangement” and that current indications pointed towards an improvement in the situation.
