Mir Raza’s Father Calls for Transparent Probe, Raises Concerns Over Investigation

KARACHI:Mir Hussain, father of young businessman Mir Raza, has expressed serious concerns over the investigation into his son’s death while placing his confidence in the newly formed police investigation committee.

Speaking to the media, Mir Hussain said Sindh Home Minister and Karachi Mayor had proposed during a meeting with him that a judicial commission headed by a High Court judge be formed to investigate the case.

He said the family would carefully consider the proposal before giving a final response.

Regarding the investigation, Mir Hussain expressed full confidence in the new committee constituted by the police. He praised its head, DIG Amir Farooqi, describing him as a well-reputed officer and expressing hope that the committee would uncover all the facts.

The victim’s father also revealed that Mir Raza’s business partner had mysteriously disappeared following the incident.

Expressing his concerns, Mir Hussain said the previous police investigation team had questioned him only once. He added that the family had not been informed about what investigations had been conducted involving employees of the guesthouse where the incident allegedly took place.

He also questioned why the guesthouse’s CCTV footage had not yet been made public.

Mir Hussain said he hoped the new investigation team would examine all these aspects and conduct a transparent investigation to bring those responsible for his son’s death to justice.

Earlier, reports had also emerged about the circumstances inside the guesthouse, along with the account of 14-year-old employee Shahid, who was seen leaving the premises in tears. Shahid reportedly said that when a commotion broke out, other staff members fled by climbing over the walls.

The guesthouse in Gulistan-e-Johar was also linked in reports to Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. Memon subsequently approached the cybercrime agency and rejected the allegations as fabricated.

Mir Raza went missing on July 28 and his body was recovered the following day. Police initially treated the death as a suspected suicide. However, following concerns raised by the family, an exhumation and second post-mortem examination reportedly found signs of physical assault, broken ribs and teeth, and a gunshot wound from behind.

Following the findings, Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code, relating to murder, was added to the case.
