If Sohail Afridi Tries to Reach D-Chowk Without Permission, “Part Two” Will Happen: Munib Farooq
ISLAMABAD: Analyst Munib Farooq has warned that if Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi attempts to reach D-Chowk without permission, the situation could lead to serious confrontation.
In his vlog, Farooq said that if government resources were used for such an attempt, the Interior Ministry under Mohsin Naqvi would also have a free hand to respond.
He recalled that when Ali Amin Gandapur had previously arrived in Islamabad, people from outside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had not participated in large numbers because the provincial government was involved.
Farooq said that if another attempt was made using government resources, the Interior Ministry also had considerable resources and experienced personnel at its disposal. He added that the ministry had learned from previous confrontations and had “taken many blows” in the past.
Referring to the events of November 2024, Farooq said he hoped the situation would not be repeated and that a political solution would be found, particularly in the interest of Imran Khan and his party.

However, he warned that failure to find a political solution could result in unrest.
“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the interior minister or the establishment are not in a position to negotiate under pressure or simply surrender,” he said.
Farooq suggested that, just as Ali Amin Gandapur had maintained contact with Mohsin Naqvi during previous developments, Naqvi could also establish contact with Sohail Afridi and potentially coordinate the location of a protest.
He cautioned that if Afridi and his supporters attempted to reach D-Chowk without informing the authorities, the situation could turn into an open confrontation.
Farooq stressed that the authorities should seek a political solution to prevent another escalation.
