Karachi Traffic Police Launch Crackdown on Fancy Number Plates, Warn of Heavy Fines and Vehicle Seizure
Karachi: The Karachi Traffic Police has announced a strict crackdown against vehicles and motorcycles using illegal or fancy number plates, warning motorists of heavy fines and possible vehicle confiscation.
According to officials, vehicles displaying colorful or non-standard number plates will face immediate action with no leniency. Authorities emphasized that such plates pose a serious security risk, as they are often used to conceal identities during criminal activities.
Despite issuing thousands of challans in the past, many citizens have continued to violate regulations, prompting the decision to intensify enforcement measures. Under the new policy, offenders will not only be fined but may also have their vehicles or motorcycles seized on the spot.
Traffic police have directed all vehicle owners to remove modified or decorative plates immediately and ensure compliance with official designs issued by the Excise and Taxation Department.
Officials warned that strict monitoring will be carried out across the city, and any violations observed on roads will result in immediate legal action.
