Governments Do Not Fall Because of a Minister’s Statement: Huzaifa Rehman

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Huzaifa Rehman, has said that governments do not fall because of statements made by individual ministers, asserting that the current government will complete its constitutional term.

Speaking on Geo News’ morning show “Geo Pakistan,” Huzaifa Rehman said Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had already clarified his statement, adding that the matter should now be considered closed. He noted that Naqvi also has a personal relationship and friendship with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He said he had not expected such remarks from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, but described his comments as emotional and said he would not make any further comment on them.

Huzaifa Rehman said the PPP is a strong ally of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). However, he claimed that even without the PPP, the PML-N has the required numbers to remain in government.

He further remarked that the “countdown” would not only be for the PML-N but also for the governments in Sindh and Balochistan.

Responding to a question, Huzaifa Rehman said he did not agree with the claim that the government had completed a 30-year journey in just three years.

He also revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had asked all ministries to submit performance reports about a month ago.
