Court Orders Exhumation and Medical Board in Mir Raza Death Case

Karachi: A court in Karachi has ordered the exhumation of the body of Mir Raza Ali and directed the formation of a medical board to conduct a fresh post-mortem examination in a significant development in the case.

According to reports, the Judicial Magistrate (East) approved a petition filed by Mir Raza’s father, instructing the Sindh Health Secretary to constitute a medical board and ensure that the exhumation is carried out as soon as possible.

Speaking to the media, Mir Raza’s father expressed serious concerns over the police investigation. He claimed that he identified his son only by his fingernails because his face had been completely burned.

“I identified my son by his nails. His face was completely burned. Why was his identity erased?” he said, adding that the police had not yet officially treated the incident as a murder.

He further alleged that investigators were giving different versions of events in private and in public, and said his family’s statements had not yet been formally recorded.

According to the father, the family did not initially receive the post-mortem report and only obtained it after learning about it through media reports. He questioned why key information was being withheld and said his only demand was justice.

During the hearing, Mir Raza’s father argued that the police investigation had been unsatisfactory and that a second post-mortem was necessary to establish the facts.

The government prosecutor did not oppose the request for exhumation. The court observed that the government was also supporting the process and ordered the authorities to implement its directions without delay.

The fresh medical examination is expected to assist investigators in determining the cause and circumstances of Mir Raza’s death. The final conclusions of the case will depend on the findings of the medical board and the ongoing investigation.
