PkMAP Condemns Withdrawal of Weapons From Qila Saifullah Police Stations, Demands Immediate Reversal
QUETTA: The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkMAP) has strongly criticized the reported decision to withdraw weapons from police stations across Balochistan’s Qila Saifullah district, warning that the move would leave residents vulnerable to terrorist groups and armed militants.
In a statement issued by the party’s provincial secretariat, PkMAP expressed serious concern over reports that weapons had been removed from several police stations, effectively rendering them inactive and weakening law enforcement in the district.
According to the statement, police stations in Qila Saifullah, Muslim Bagh, Kan Mehtarzai, Nasai, Margha Faqirzai, Loi Band, Badini, Sharan Jogezai, Shinkai, Akhtarzai, Batuzai, Musafirpur, and other areas were instructed to return SMGs (submachine guns) and magazines to the District Police Officer’s (DPO) office.
The party argued that the decision effectively strips the police of their defensive capabilities and leaves the local population at the mercy of terrorists and armed groups, particularly at a time when the district and surrounding areas continue to face serious security threats.
PkMAP also criticized the government’s decision by noting that many of these police stations were previously Levies posts before being converted into police stations, despite public opposition. It said withdrawing weapons from these stations undermines public safety and weakens the state’s authority.
The party maintained that disarming police personnel in a region facing militant activity would directly benefit extremist and armed groups, calling the move contrary to the principles of maintaining law and order.
PkMAP urged the Balochistan government, the Home Department, the Inspector General of Police, and other relevant authorities to immediately revoke the orders, restore weapons and essential resources to all police stations, and ensure the effective functioning of law enforcement agencies.
The party warned that if the decision is not reversed, the government would bear full responsibility for any serious consequences arising from the deterioration of the security situation.
