PkMAP Rejects Proposed Changes to Musakhel’s Geographical Boundaries Without Public Consent

Quetta: The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has strongly opposed any changes to the geographical boundaries of Musakhel without the consent of its residents, calling on the provincial government to immediately withdraw what it described as an unacceptable decision.

The party’s position was conveyed during a meeting between PkMAP Central General Secretary Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal and a delegation led by former provincial minister and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Maulvi Sarwar Musakhel. The delegation included representatives of political parties, tribal elders, and members of civil society from Musakhel.

Senior PkMAP leaders, including Provincial President Abdul Qahar Wadan, Provincial General Secretary Kabir Afghan, Office Secretary Malik Umar Kakar, and Deputy Secretaries Hafeez Tareen and Nizam Askar, also attended the meeting.

According to the delegation, the proposed alteration of Musakhel’s geographical boundaries, including the transfer of Union Council Andarpur and Union Council Rarasham to Barkhan district, is being pursued without consulting the local population. They argued that the two union councils have historically been part of Musakhel and should remain within the district.

PkMAP leaders alleged that the provincial government’s administrative decisions regarding new divisions, districts, and boundary changes were made without public consultation and warned that such measures would not be accepted by the people.

The party further claimed that Musakhel’s provincial assembly seat had previously been abolished, the district had been included in the Koh-e-Suleman Division, and now efforts were being made to alter its historical boundaries without the consent of local residents.

PkMAP also questioned the government’s justification that the changes were intended to improve public services, arguing that the affected union councils are approximately 61 kilometers from Musakhel district headquarters but around 112 kilometers from Barkhan, making the proposed transfer impractical.

The party urged the provincial government to withdraw the decision immediately, stating that if it cannot provide relief to the public, it should at least avoid creating additional hardships through administrative changes.
