Sindh to Launch Facial Recognition Attendance System in Government Schools from August 17

KARACHI: The Sindh government has approved the implementation of a Facial Recognition Attendance Monitoring and Evaluation System (FRAMES) for teachers and staff in government schools, with the first phase set to begin on August 17 in six districts across the province.

The decision was approved by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah during a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s House. The meeting was attended by Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, Secretary School Education Zahid Abbasi, and other senior officials.

Officials briefed the meeting that, in the initial phase, one district from each division has been selected, and the registration of teaching and non-teaching staff has already been completed.

The FRAMES system will operate in both online and offline modes, allowing attendance monitoring even in areas with limited internet connectivity. Authorities also confirmed that all selected schools have been geo-tagged, while teachers’ arrival and departure times will be automatically recorded in a secure and tamper-proof system.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said FRAMES is not merely an attendance application but a major governance reform in the education sector. He noted that the system would improve transparency, accountability, monitoring, institutional discipline, and overall educational performance.

He directed the School Education Department to establish a strong technical support and monitoring mechanism during the initial rollout and to ensure that school administrations receive all necessary assistance. He also instructed officials to gradually expand the system to all districts of Sindh after the successful completion of the pilot phase.

Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah said all technical preparations for the launch of FRAMES have been completed and expressed confidence that the system would strengthen data-driven governance and become a significant milestone in Sindh’s ongoing education reforms.

Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to extending the facial recognition attendance system across the province following its successful implementation in the six pilot districts.
