Karachi Shaken by Series of Minor Earthquakes; 3.4 Magnitude Tremor Strikes Again

Karachi:Karachi experienced another mild earthquake late Monday night, as tremors were felt across several parts of the city at **12:53 AM**, with a magnitude of **3.4** on the Richter scale.
The tremors were particularly strong in **Landhi**, where several houses developed cracks in their walls, prompting panic among residents who rushed out of their homes in fear.
This follows a similar incident earlier the same night, at **11:16 PM**, when tremors of **2.4 magnitude** were recorded. Affected areas included **Landhi Sherpao, Quaidabad**, and surrounding localities. According to the **Seismological Center**, the epicenter was located near **Malir**, approximately **10 kilometers deep**.
Since Sunday, **Karachi has been jolted 11 times**, raising concerns among residents and authorities.
Speaking to **Geo News**, **Chief Meteorologist Aamir Haider** explained that the tremors are originating from the **Landhi Fault Region**, a known but historically stable fault line. He emphasized that while these are minor seismic events, **Karachi lies near two active fault zones**: one in Landhi and the other near **Thana Bula Khan**.
“Small tremors are common during such periods and may continue for the next **48 hours**,” he said, adding that the **Main Boundary Thrust near the Kirthar range** is also an active seismic area. The fault line is expected to stabilize over the coming days.
Authorities have advised the public to stay calm but remain alert, while emergency services are on standby in the affected regions.
