Younis Khan Says He Wants Freedom to Deliver, Not Power, in Pakistan Cricket

Karachi:Former Pakistan cricket captain **Younis Khan** has said that he has always asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to give him the freedom to perform any assigned role effectively rather than seeking authority or influence.

Speaking to the media in Karachi, Younis said he has held discussions with several PCB chairmen over the years and often hears claims that he is seeking greater powers within the board.

“I have no interest in power,” he said. “Whenever I have spoken to the PCB chairman, I have always requested that if I am given a role, I should be allowed to do the job properly without my hands being tied. If you assign me responsibility, let me build the team.”

The former captain added that professional independence and the ability to deliver results are more important to him than financial benefits.

“If I ever negotiate over a package, it would be on behalf of the player in the weakest financial position in the team,” he remarked.

Younis Khan also expressed his willingness to return to Pakistan cricket in an official capacity, saying that players must be prepared to take responsibility for the team’s future.

Recalling Pakistan’s rebuilding phase after the 2003 Cricket World Cup, he said the younger generation stepped up after senior players departed and emphasized that today’s players can also achieve major success if they think big and embrace responsibility.
