SSGC Explains Gas Odor Complaints Across Karachi, Says No Leak Detected

Karachi:** Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has clarified reports of a strong gas smell in several parts of Karachi, saying the odor was caused by pipeline testing and not by a gas leak.
According to an SSGC spokesperson, a newly installed gas pipeline on **Abul Hasan Isphahani Road** underwent testing on Saturday. During the process, a higher-than-usual quantity of the odorizing chemical added to natural gas was introduced into the system, resulting in widespread reports of a gas smell from various neighborhoods.
The spokesperson said that all gas system pressure levels remain normal and that **no gas leakage has been detected**.
SSGC assured consumers that the odor was solely the result of the testing process and advised residents to remain calm and continue their normal activities, as there is no safety risk associated with the incident.
