Trump Says U.S. and Israel Delayed Planned Strike on Iran Pending Possible Deal
Washington:** U.S. President **Donald Trump** has claimed that the United States and Israel agreed to postpone a planned military strike on Iran following requests from Tehran and several Middle Eastern countries, but said the decision depends on reaching an agreement with Iran as soon as possible.
In a statement posted on his social media platform, **Truth Social**, Trump said the United States was fully prepared to employ what he described as its greatest military force since World War II against Iran. However, he said the operation was put on hold at the request of Iran and other regional nations, adding that Israel supported the decision.
Meanwhile, Iran has issued a strong warning to the United States, saying Tehran would respond forcefully and decisively to any new military action.
Iranian Foreign Minister **Abbas Araghchi** held separate telephone conversations with Turkish Foreign Minister **Hakan Fidan**, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff **Field Marshal Asim Munir**, and Saudi Foreign Minister **Prince Faisal bin Farhan**, according to Iranian officials. During the calls, Araghchi said Iran would deliver a proportional and firm response to any aggression and discussed the potential regional consequences of military action by the United States and Israel.
Separately, Iran’s **Nour News**, a media outlet affiliated with the country’s Supreme National Security Council, warned that if the United States targeted Iran’s energy infrastructure, Tehran would retaliate by striking energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Israel.
Speaking at a Cabinet meeting at **Camp David**, President Trump said he still hoped American negotiators could reach an agreement with Iran. However, he accused Tehran of breaking previous commitments and warned that if diplomacy failed, the United States would not rule out military action.
