External Powers Play the Biggest Role in Balochistan’s Challenges, Says Provincial Minister Zahoor Buledi

Quetta: Balochistan Provincial Minister Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi has said that external actors are the most significant factor behind the province’s ongoing security, political, and social challenges, arguing that blaming local factors or the tribal system alone does not reflect the ground realities.

In a statement, Buledi acknowledged that the tribal (Sardari) system has not kept pace with modern requirements and has, at times, hindered public development, education, and empowerment. However, he said it would be inaccurate to attribute Balochistan’s current situation solely to that factor.

The provincial minister stated that the complex nature of militant activities in the province indicates the involvement of advanced weapons, modern technology, intelligence support, and external assistance, making it inappropriate to place all responsibility on local individuals or groups.

Buledi said Balochistan’s strategic geographic location, abundant mineral resources, and border position have made it a target for external elements seeking to create instability in pursuit of their own interests.

He emphasized that the solution to Balochistan’s problems lies not in assigning blame but in acknowledging the realities on the ground, strengthening national unity, ensuring political stability, increasing public participation, and effectively countering foreign interference.

The minister added that the Government of Balochistan and state institutions are jointly pursuing a comprehensive strategy to restore peace, promote development, and strengthen stability across the province.

He further said that alongside efforts to eliminate terrorism, the government is prioritizing employment opportunities, education, healthcare, and the provision of basic public services to create positive opportunities for the province’s youth.
