Dismissal of 25 Lady Medical Officers Is Glaring Proof of Administrative Incompetence: Young Doctors Association

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta), September 10: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan has expressed serious concern over the dismissal of 25 Lady Medical Officers by the Health Department on the basis of allegedly faulty, incomplete, and contradictory administrative records, terming it a glaring proof of administrative incompetence.

In a statement issued by the YDA spokesperson, it was said that it is extremely regrettable that the department failed to maintain accurate basic records regarding the posting, deployment, and attendance of its own doctors, but is now trying to shift the burden of its incompetence and flawed system onto those doctors who have been present at their designated place of posting since day one and performing their professional duties with complete honesty.

The spokesperson clarified that if a doctor has been formally posted at a place and is continuously serving there, then declaring her absent and dismissing her on the basis of the department’s administrative contradiction or data error is not negligence on the part of the employee but a serious failure of the Health Department’s administrative system. The Health Department must answer why doctors on duty are being punished for its negligence if it does not have a correct record of its employees’ postings.

The Young Doctors Association Balochistan has announced in unequivocal terms that such injustice, retaliatory action, or administrative irregularity against doctors will not be tolerated in any way, and the department should refrain from playing with the future of doctors to hide its record-keeping errors.

The statement further said that certain elements within the Health Department are trying to sabotage the recent talks with the government and are resorting to retaliatory actions against doctors to conceal their incompetence.

The YDA has expressed its determination that it will not allow any individual or institution to carry out unfair and systematic actions against doctors, as no compromise will be made on the rights of doctors. The Young Doctors Association will continue its full struggle on every constitutional, legal, and democratic forum for the protection of the basic, professional, and legal rights of all its doctors. It will not rest until every single doctor’s right is secured and reserves the right to full resistance against every illegal action.
