JUI-F’s Abdul Wasey Says Mohsin Naqvi’s Remarks Reflect Failure of Current Governance System

Quetta: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Balochistan chief and Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey has reacted to recent remarks by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, saying the statement amounts to an acknowledgment of the failure of the country’s current governance system.

In a statement, Abdul Wasey said that the shortcomings, weaknesses, and failures of the existing system are evident to everyone, adding that the minister’s comments about his own government and administrative structure amount to “a charge sheet against the government’s overall performance.”

He said Maulana Fazlur Rehman has repeatedly warned over the past two years that the existing hybrid governance model was pushing the country toward political, constitutional, economic, and administrative crises. According to Abdul Wasey, recent statements by government figures support JUI-F’s longstanding position.

The senator questioned who was responsible for creating the current system and who should be held accountable for its shortcomings, arguing that both its architects and participants share responsibility for the country’s present challenges.

Abdul Wasey further alleged that the current system has weakened democratic institutions through interference in the judicial process, undermining of the public mandate, disputed elections, political horse-trading, unconstitutional amendments, and other actions that, he claimed, have damaged the constitutional order.

He reiterated that JUI-F has consistently advocated for the supremacy of the Constitution, democracy, the rule of law, and the public’s right to choose its representatives. He added that despite what he described as organized propaganda against the party and its leadership, JUI-F would continue its struggle for constitutional supremacy, democratic governance, and the protection of a free and transparent electoral mandate.
