U.S. Imposes New Sanctions on 10 Entities and 8 Oil Tankers Linked to Iran

Washington:The United States has imposed fresh sanctions on 10 entities and eight oil tankers, accusing Iran of attempting to generate revenue through activities related to the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the latest sanctions target 10 organizations, including six based in China, as part of efforts to disrupt Iran’s alleged revenue-generating network connected to the strategic waterway.

The measures follow recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who pledged to take tougher action against Iran.

The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) also sanctioned **Persian Gulf Marine Insurance Company** and **Hormuz Safe Marine Services Authority**, alleging that the two organizations played a key role in Iran’s scheme to collect digital assets and other forms of revenue through insurance-related services for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Iran’s economy is deteriorating rapidly and that the government is seeking new sources of funding. He added that the United States would not allow Iran to hold global trade hostage or use an international maritime corridor to finance the activities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to the report, the new sanctions are part of the Trump administration’s broader strategy of increasing pressure on Iran through both economic measures and military actions in an effort to end the ongoing conflict.

Since the beginning of 2026, the United States has sanctioned more than 100 vessels allegedly linked to Iran’s so-called “shadow fleet.”
